Only those students who can prove to benefit from the status of student worker can apply for part-time enrollment.

Documentation:
The request must be addressed to the President of the FA, presented to the FA Secretariat and accompanied by the following documents:
    · Work contract or declaration of the employer confirming being a worker;
    · Proposal of study plan with indication of the Curricular Units in which the student intends to enroll.

Deadline:
The part-time scheme must be requested by the students at the beginning of the school year - at the time of enrollment or at most until the 10th of October of each year.

Applicants have a maximum period of five (5) business days, counted from the date of the communication, to proceed to change their registration in the FA office. At the end of this period they lose the right to change their course of study in the school year in question.

Emolument:
Applications for change of study regime provided for in this Regulation shall be subject to the fees established by the University of Lisbon, which is currently set by Resolution 87/2014 (Diário da República, 2nd Series, nº 18 of January 27, 2014 ).

 In compliance with the Management Council's decision of 17 September 2012, in order to respond to the difficulties manifested by Master's and Doctoral students, payment of the benefits provided in the respective tuition regulations can be done according to Order No. 32.

Deadline for submission of application:
The registration period in the 1st semester is extended until October 15, under some conditions described in Order No. 32.

International students may apply for a Bachelor or an Integrated Master Degree at Faculty of Architecture (FA) under the CEAIEIC (Concurso Especial de Acesso e Ingresso para Estudantes Internacionais – Special Call for Admission of International Students). For the application they must

1. Application requirements:

a) Have an academic background in the scientific areas of the Degree for which they are applying;

b) Have the level of Portuguese language knowledge required for the Degree for which they are applying;

Note: FA enforces the policy of requiring classes to be taught in English whenever there is in class one student who is not fluent in Portuguese. In addition, most courses have a cohort taught in English.

2.Academic background requirements:

a) The applicants must proof to have knowledge in the scientific areas necessary for the Degree for which they are applying.

b) When the applicant has completed the studies in a Portuguese High School, the application to the Faculty must be done through our DGES (Education Ministry), by getting approval on the national exams foreseen for accessing the Degree for which is applying.

c) The national exams must be done within the three years prior to the application or in the current year;

d) For applicants coming from schools abroad, under the conditions foreseen in the article 20º-A of the Portuguese diploma n.º 296-A/98 from 25th September, the exams used for applying must be considered equivalent, according to what is stated on paragraph b).

e)When the applicant has a degree for which the paragraphs b) and d) don’t apply, he/she should present documentation that shows that his/her academic background has covered the curricular elements demanded by the exams requested on paragraph b).

f) There will be a nominated Judging Committee for evaluating the applications submitted under the conditions of paragraph e)

3.Knowledge of Portuguese Language:

The attendance of any of our study cycles demands that students be an Independent User of Portuguese language (B2, according to the Common European Reference Framework for Languages).

The International applicants who only have the B1 level of Portuguese language can still apply to our Degrees as long as they compromise on doing an annual course of Portuguese Language and Culture.

Excepting for the students who attended the Portuguese High School, International applicants must:

a) Present a DEPLE (Diploma Elementar de Português Língua Estrangeira – Basic Diploma of Portuguese as Foreign Language); or

b) Present a B1 certificate issued by a Faculty of University of Lisbon; or

c) Attend an exam of Portuguese Language and Culture, organized by ULisboa, with prices and calendar published annually.

The International students who didn’t attend a Portuguese High School and didn’t present a DIPLE or B2 certificate issued by a Faculty of ULisboa, must compromise on attending an annual course of Portuguese Language and Culture:

a)  The annual course of Portuguese Language and Culture can take place at the same time as the classes for the 1st year of the Degree on which the student has enrolled;

b)  At the end of the academic year the student will have to present his B2 certificate of Portuguese;

The student will be obliged to repeat the Portuguese course until he reaches the B2 level and presents the certificate.

These requirements apply despite what is stated in the note in 1b).

4.Available Places and Deadlines:

The number of available places for International students in each study cycle is set annually.

a)  The calendar will be published on the webpage of ULisboa;

b)  There could be more than one application Call every year.

5.Ranking of applications:

The ranking of the applications will be made according to the criteria specified on the Faculty regulations. If the Faculty doesn’t specify any rules, the ranking will be made by decreasing order of the final average of the high school diploma.

Since there are several international grade scales, all averages will be shown on a scale of approval from 100 to 200, being converted in proportion to that same scale.

In case of a tie between two or more applicants on the last place, the Faculty will open an extra place for each one of them.

The minimum average for applying to any study cycle will be 100, except on the cases where the Faculty regulations specify a more demanding criteria.

What is the difference between equivalence, recognition and registration of foreign diplomas?

Equivalence is governed by Decree-Law no. 283/83, of June 21, and is a process by which a foreign academic qualification is compared to a Portuguese qualification, regarding the level, duration and programmatic content, Being also established the scientific area of ​​equivalence granted.

Recognition is a process by which a foreign academic qualification is compared to a Portuguese qualification only in level and is regulated by Decree-Law no. 283/83, of June 21.

Registration is a new regime for the recognition of foreign academic degrees of level, objectives and nature identical to the degrees of licenciado, mestre and doctor attributed by Portuguese Institutions of Higher Education, conferring to its holders all the rights inherent to these academic degrees. This new regime of recognition is regulated under Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of October 12.

Can I apply for registration (Decree-Law no. 341/2007) of my degree, having obtained equivalence ( Decree-Law no. 283/83)?

Yes. Obtaining equivalence under Decree-Law no. 283/83, of June 21, is not an impediment to requesting the registration of a degree under Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of October 12. However, registration may only add value if no final classification has been awarded.

Where can I request equivalence / recognition of the degrees of licenciado, mestre or doctor (Decree-Law no. 283/83)?

If you hold a foreign higher degree and wish to apply for equivalence / recognition you should contact:

Graduation - request from the Office of Graduation of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon;

Master's degree - request from the Central Services of the University of Lisbon;

PhD - request from the Central Services of the University of Lisbon.

Can I submit simultaneously an application for equivalence / recognition in two higher education institutions (Decree-Law no. 283/83)?

No, more than one equivalence may be given to the same foreign qualification of a higher level.

Only upon rejection or withdrawal of an application for equivalence may the interested party submit, in the same or another Institution of Public Higher Education in relation to another course, a new application regarding the same foreign qualification.

What documents should I submit for the equivalence request?

You must deliver all the documentation required by Decree-Law no. 283/83:

    Bachelor's Degree - Article 12

    Masters - Article 8

    PhD - Article 4

How much does the request for equivalence or recognition (Decree-Law no. 283/83) cost?

The institutions publish annually in the Diário da República the Emoluments table regarding applications for equivalence / recognition and other certificates.

Transfer / Course Change / Re-entries

  • A course change is the enrollment in a course other than the one in which the student practiced the last enrollment, in the same or another higher education institution, and there was interruption of enrollment in a higher course.
  • The transfer is understood as enrollment in a course of the same name but in an institution of higher education different from the one in which it is or has been enrolled, and there has been interruption of enrollment in a higher course.
  • Re-entry is the act by which a student, after a course interruption in a particular course and higher education institution, enrolls in the same establishment and enrolls in the same course or course that has happened to him.

Ranking criteria:

1 – Os candidatos a mudança de curso e transferência serão seriados mediante a aplicação sucessiva dos seguintes critérios:
           a) Média ponderada mais elevada de unidades curriculares/ECTS concluídos, corrigida por factor de ECTS realizados;
           b) Aprovação no menor número de unidades curriculares/ECTS, com equivalência ao curso pretendido;
           c) Classificação mais elevada no acesso ao Ensino Superior;
           d) Avaliação do Curriculum Vitae em caso de empate.

2 – Sempre que dois ou mais candidatos fiquem em situação de empate, devem ser todos admitidos, mesmo que para tal seja necessário criar vagas adicionais.

3 – O fator de ECTS realizados adaptará a media ponderada aos ECTS concluídos pelo concorrente e corresponderá aos intervalos de:

As vagas eventualmente sobrantes no regime de mudança de curso ou de transferência podem ser utilizadas no outro regime, por decisão do Presidente da FA.
As vagas eventualmente sobrantes do regime de acesso que não sejam utilizadas (por candidatos maiores de 23 anos), podem ser utilizadas para os regimes de mudança de curso e transferência, por decisão do Presidente da FA.

O reingresso não está sujeito a limitações quantitativas.


 Titulares de Curso Médio ou Superior

Ao Concurso Especial de Acesso destinado a Titulares de Cursos Médios e Superiores podem candidatar-se os titulares de um curso superior.

Condições de candidatura e documentos a apresentar:

Critérios de seriação:

1 – Os candidatos a Titulares de Curso Médio ou Superior serão seriados mediante a aplicação sucessiva dos seguintes critérios:
           a) Média ponderada mais elevada de unidades curriculares/ECTS concluídos, corrigida por factor de ECTS realizados; 
           b) Aprovação no menor número de unidades curriculares/ECTS, com equivalência ao curso pretendido;
           c) Classificação mais elevada no acesso ao Ensino Superior;
           d) Avaliação do Curriculum Vitae em caso de empate.

2 – Sempre que dois ou mais candidatos fiquem em situação de empate, devem ser todos admitidos, mesmo que para tal seja necessário criar vagas adicionais.

Critérios de seriação:

1 – Os candidatos a Semestres Avançados do Mestrado Integrado, serão seriados mediante a aplicação sucessiva dos seguintes critérios:
           a) Média ponderada mais elevada de unidades curriculares/ECTS concluídos, corrigida por factor de ECTS realizados; 
           b) Aprovação no menor número de unidades curriculares/ECTS, com equivalência ao curso pretendido;
           c) Classificação mais elevada no acesso ao Ensino Superior;
           d) Avaliação do Curriculum Vitae em caso de empate.

2 – Sempre que dois ou mais candidatos fiquem em situação de empate, devem ser todos admitidos, mesmo que para tal seja necessário criar vagas adicionais.

It is understood that intending to improve the classification obtained by the crediting process, the same will not be satisfied with the result of the crediting process, so that, in this way, will have the prorogation to opt for the provisions in art. 11 of the Regulations for the Creation and Integration of Professional Experiences and Academic Formations of the University of Lisbon, that is to say, after knowing the result of the crediting process, do not accept it and be subject to the evaluation regime of the unit (s).
Therefore, it will not be possible to enroll in improvement of classifications if they have been obtained by means of a crediting process.
